Okay I am a believer..even when I attempt to ignore purpose-filled whispers they continue to come my way, insistent on breaking through. Last time I talked about meaningful coincidences that occur every day. Well thankfully, they keep on coming, let’s look at what happened this week….
What would your life be like if everyday your paid attention to all the whispers/meaningful coincidences that come your way? Remember, these are events or experiences that are normal everyday happenings that show up in ways that allow you to see more clearly the opportunities and possibilities that await you.
Let me begin with my day today. I started with low energy, having difficulty getting started, and feeling a little depressed. The first thing that drew my attention as I started my day in the office was a book I sometimes refer to... A well-worn page read, "The more we give for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warm-hearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. This helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the ultimate source of success in life." -The Dalai Lama
I began to focus on the relationship opportunities I had right in front of me. I had to think “Wow”, this opened me up to the start of what was to be a phenomenal day. In fact the message on that page had begun the process of changing my outlook on the day. It gave me the momentum I needed and created the energy I was lacking.
I have found that these whispers happen continually… so you won’t be surprised that within a short time something else occurred to reinforce my new outlook. As I opened my e-mails, there was a message from someone I barely knew who was on a conference call that I conducted yesterday. The message was simply, thank you for helping us see what was right in front of us. Okay now I was smiling just a little and began to brainstorm all of the ways I could be creative that day.
The third coincidence, and by the way these all happened within 15 minutes, was an e-mail from my wife who was traveling. Her e-mail contained materials that she wanted me to review relative to a seminar series on leadership. As luck would have it my plan for the day had been to work on creating a educational series for business leaders in North Carolina. This reinforced my desire to move forward with the project that I had put on the backburner for quite some time.
As you and as I continue to go through our days, the importance of being aware and noticing the various life experiences that become instruments of learning is critical to living a life of fulfillment and impact. I wonder how many more of these whispers I will hear today? So the next time you run into someone you have been meaning to call or receive an email of appreciation when your mood has soured, know that this small blip on the scale has a major impact on your day. Comment and let me hear some of the whispers you have heard this week…
